It is the end of October (!!!) and so in my mind the Christmas preparations are going to start soon. Sorry if you hate me for saying that, but I like to have plenty of time to think about present ideas and plan out what I need to do. In November I am going to share some gift ideas and will be launching my own Christmas card designs very soon so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Here is this month's handlettering offerings. I snuck in a black on white one for a bit of a change but I think I prefer the white on black to be honest.

I am struggling a bit with blogging at the moment and keeping up with it all, but I still really enjoy it and so am going to keep plodding on. I have had a few ideas for being more time effective with how I create content so hopefully that will help. I am always trying to think of ideas to improve and get better.

Hope you are all having inspired and creative weeks.

Handlettering for August and September

In the crazy busyness of August I totally forgot to post my hand lettering offerings for the month so here are the latest - all of which you can find on instagram. I am trying to shake things up in a tiny way and I really like how the 'Monday' lettering turned out.

I have been designing lots of new cards recently and some prints in preparation for the Crafty Fox Market (please come and say hi! I would love to meet you) - and so there should be a big shop update in the next couple of weeks. Need to knuckle down and photograph everything.

I am still trying to get back on top of my blogging schedule - in a couple of weeks I go back to 4 days a week in my day job so I should have a bit more time to get on top of things like the blog and my shop. Am really looking forward to pushing things forward and ticking off a few more of my goals for the year!

What are you guys up to this week? Hope you have a great Monday.

I think I had been getting a bit stuck in a rut again with my hand lettering..but I really like the last 3 of this set. They are a bit different and a bit more interesting. I am going to try and use these hand letterings on instagram as a chance to experiment a bit more as I really don't do that enough.

In other news have you seen this cute little series Bianca has started where she hand letters things her friends have said? She included something I said - turns out a lot of people can identify, haha! I am looking forward to checking out more of them as the series continues.

In other hand lettering news I am trying to get back into practising my calligraphy after this workshop earlier in the year. I want to do the next level workshop but definitely need to work a bit harder on it before I am ready to sign up.

Hope you all have a lovely Friday and a great weekend. I am looking forward to hanging out with my siblings.

Monday Moodboard

It is time for another Monday moodboard to get you inspired for the week ahead (if you want to see more of them you can check them out here). After last month's brightly coloured swimming moodboard I have gone back to my beloved black and white for this one. Maybe I will get into the habit of alternating.

The sources are (clockwise from the top left): One - Two - Three - Four

These are just a few of the lovely black and white things I have been spotting on Pinterest recently. Hope you have a wonderful Monday and a week full of inspiration.

Inspired by Rocio Montoya

Ever since I discovered Laura from cardboardcities blog, I have wanted to experiment with creating my own collages. (Aren't Laura's collages and patterns awesome!).

Anyway a little while ago on Fubiz I stumbled across the work of Rocio Montoya and fell even more in love with collage as an art form and now I am determined to have a go. I think what I would like to do is around the beginning of each month share an artist that is inspiring me and then use that as a catalyst to experiment and try different mediums out that I am not that used to. It may end up that what I create turns out to be not that good, but I like the idea of using this space to document my attempts. So later in March look out for some of my own collage attempts.

In the mean time enjoy and be inspired by Rocio Montoya's work

I really love how she combines black and white photographs with nature elements that are in colour. They are just so beautiful and dreamy. I especially love the composition of the image above with the rose falling down below the bottom of the black and white image.

I like the intrigue that is added to the image above with cutting out their faces and parts of their bodies. It makes you wonder who they are and what they were doing.

Moodboard Monday

It has been a little while since I have done a black and white moodboard so I thought I would indulge my monochrome pinterest addiction and get myself inspired this Monday morning. Looking at these above reminds me how much I need to make time to just experiment with making marks and patterns.

We just spent a lovely long weekend in Dorset so there will definitely be lots of colour later in the week.

Hope you all have a great Monday!

Moodboard Monday

I haven't done a moodboard in a while so thought I would start as I mean to go on with a bit of inspiration from good old pinterest.

(sadly couldn't find a lot of the original sources for these - that does frustrate me about pinterest sometimes) you can follow me on pinterest here

Hope you all have a lovely monday.

Monday moodboard

So - I sort of fell off the blogging bandwagon this last month. I have not been very well..I went away and in the mix of life and just trying to get better the blog fell by the wayside. I have kind of missed it but at the same time it was kind of nice to have a break too. I thought to kick start myself back into it I would do a little mood board for some Monday inspiration. I am going on holiday in a couple of weeks so there is lots to cram in before we go...but hopefully I will be able to resume slightly more regular posting now! I decided to go black and white again for this mood board...because I don't know why but my b&w pinterest board has been inspiring me so much recently.

I tried to find all the credits, but you know what it's like with Pinterest...it's not always easy to find. Here's what I found. (clockwise from top left) 1/2/3/4/5/6/7

In other news I wish I was Audrey Tatou. also that Tree pattern is wall paper - that would look amazing.

Happy Monday all.

Moodboard Monday // B&W

I am a little bit in love with my black and white pinterest board at the moment. I did a black and white mood board before but fancied doing another...and I can't even describe how much pleasure this collection of images brought me today. I feel like they represent little quiet captures of peace and beauty. The top quote totally sums up what my head and life is like most of the time and the 'Listen' type is reminding me to do just that. I have always been a talker and I love to talk and be listened to...but I am really trying to learn the value of being a listener and not a talker. b&w   These images can be found in these places....from top left going clockwise > 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / (couldn't find credit for number 2 so if anyone knows let me know and I will updated it) You can also these and more on my b&w pinterest board. I have also been working on some black and white prints recently so hopefully will be featuring some of my own work soon.

My Year // March
march01
march01

So March is done. I have managed to keep up with my instagram challenge and although sometimes I post them a day late I have posted one for every day of the month. The weather is getting milder and spring is arriving and life in the city feels good. (Apart from some rather grim smog covering it today)

These are a selection from some of my March postings. If you want to follow along you can check it out here. I still have mixed feelings about limiting myself to black and white...but mostly I like the challenge - and am starting to think about what compositions and sorts of shots look best in black and white. If you want to see my life in colour you can check out my VSCO grid where I will be posting some bits and pieces. (Like this flower that just could not be posted black and white)

I ended the month meeting up with two friends I had made on instagram which was awesome. It was like I had known them forever and we already had so much in common. I know people have been going on about it for ages but I am starting to really see and appreciate what an amazing community can be found on instagram.

Josef Hoflehner

After my raptures about all things black and white on Monday I stumbled across the work of photograher Josef Hoflehner. They are absolutely stunning and so striking. I really love his collection of photographs of India and South America, but there is so much incredible work on his website. Trust me take some time to have a look through and get inspired. It has made my feet very itchy for travel now. (The Taj Mahal image below has seriously increased my desire to go to India!)

What I notice from these photographs (and from hours spent in the dark room and photographing puddles for my Art A-level) is how important contrast is in black and white photography. You need to have dark rich blacks and then also bright whites. Will have to try and remember this when I am looking out for things to photograph for my daily instagram challenge.

I am totally digging black and white right now. I have set myself a little black and white instagram challenge for the year and on pinterest I have noticed that I have been drawn so much to black and white images recently. I decided to make a specifically black and white pinterest board. That is where all these images are from. You can check it out here and see where they are all from.

(this moodboard also has a hint of valentines day about it. Are you into valentines day? I am a bit anti to be honest...lets show the love all year round!)

Oh man I love pinterest. I needed a little inspiration pick me up this friday so I did little round up of some of my favourite things on my TYPE pinterest board right now. All of this is making me want to hole up in my little home studio tomorrow and just paint watercolour letters all day long. Maybe I will do that. I hope you all have a lovely weekend whatever you are up to!
