A day in Brighton

When I met up with Siobhan last week she recommended checking out the Elise Gets Crafty podcast and what can I say, I am now addicted. They are so good and I am really enjoying the topics she tackles. One of her early episodes was about creative field trips - I really like this name and realised that this is actually something that has always been important for me. Just getting out of your normal everyday routine and getting inspired. This could be through travel further afield or could even be exploring a new city in your own country, or even just a new corner of your own city or town (or a new area of countryside if you live in the country).

Last week I went on a creative field trip to Brighton which is always a fun place to visit. It is nice to be in a city with a totally different feel to what I am used to, to be by the sea and also to visit different shops and independent cafes. On Monday I was talking about how great it is to hang out with creative friends, well I got to hang out with an all time fave Kate. I don't get to see her nearly as much as I would like and still dream about us living in the same city again one day but whenever we meet up it is like no time has passed.

Hope you enjoy these pics from my day. If you have an opportunity to take a creative field trip anytime soon I would totally recommend it. We are actually going to Bristol this weekend for our anniversary so I'm looking forward to a new place to explore and lots of inspiration!

I am very late with this one...blaming it on the bank holiday! Hope you all had a lovely time. We had fun with family and friends and lots of sunshine which is definitely what you need on a bank holiday weekend. Here are some of the little things I loved this past week. Happy Tuesday! 1. Visited the Pick Me Up exhibiton at Somerset House. This was the wall by Hey Studio...lots of graphical treats of inspiration.

Feeling happy that I finally managed to do this post on a sunday! Have been enjoying some relaxing time off from work over easter. Here are my loves for this week...its been a good one. Happy Easter. 1. More beautiful views on my way to work. I walked part of the way to work twice this week (Which is pretty good as I was only in 3 days) and the weather was perfect and it was just a really nice way to start the day... having time to think and daydream.

2. Enjoyed playing with my new stamp!

3. On a rainy easter sunday this bit of paper in the street made me smile.

4. The graffiti in Shoreditch just keeps getting better and better. These bright letters are awesome.

5. A little outing to Columbia Road flower market is always good. Enjoying my peonies and ranunculus.

6. We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary and found an old school photobooth. Fun times.

It has always been my aim to do these posts on a sunday - still haven't managed it but maybe one day. Anyway I hope your weeks have all started well. I had a lovely relaxing weekend and really enjoyed the sunshine. Here are some of the little things that I have loved from the last week. 1. Morning sunshine rippling on the thames on my way to work. Have been walking part of the way to work a couple of days a week and it is a seriously good start to the day when the sun is shining.

These beautiful photos by Nick Meek (check them all out!) have got me daydreaming of sunnier climes on this sunday afternoon. (and river swimming!! I used to get to swim in river and lakes so much when I was a kid and I loved it...doesn't happen so much now in London). I am off to Ben's Canteen for dinner tonight to celebrate NM's birthday. It is my new favourite place to hang out. Hope you all have a lovely weekend. x

I am loving these posts. I am finding them so helpful and encouraging. They really are making me think every week about the things I am thankful for and noticing the small things. It is so good to be reminded of how blessed I am and how much there is to be thankful for each week. This weekend we had some lovely friends to stay which always makes for a good time. Last week at work I did some really long hours and so had to remind myself to notice the little good things around me more than normal as my eyes were just fuzzy and tired from looking at my computer screens for reeeaaalllly long periods of time. bleeuurrggh. Hopefully this week coming up will be a bit more chilled! Here are some little things I loved this past week.

1. These beautiful flowers from Chloe bean. I was spoilt this week with flowers from NM too. Flowers make me happy.

2. A day out with these two lovely human beings along the southbank.

3. I finally got round to planting some herbs. Lets see if I can tend and nurture these little guys. Determined to turn my black thumbs green this year.

4. I made cookies for our weekend guests and think I have found the perfect cookie recipe. Will have to give this its own little post soon.

5. blue skies and beautiful views in this beautiful city I call home.

6. This was an epic and fairly healthy brunch. My new favourite place is Ben's Canteen on St Johns Hill. I am going to be recreating this yumminess very soon!

Little Loves // 01

I am a bit of a dreamer...and I am always dreaming up bigger and better things and sometimes I think I don't take enough time to appreciate where I am and all the good things around me. I really want to learn this year to be content. Content with where I am and what I have (and there is seriously so much to appreciate and be thankful for). In the spirit of that I am going to start a new column on the blog called 'little loves'. Each week I am going to post up what my little loves for that week have been - it will just be a collection of little everyday things that I have seen/experienced and enjoyed that week. And hopefully it will really help me to appreciate all of the wonderful things around me a little bit more. I want to learn to appreciate these smaller things and not take them for granted.

So here we go for my first week - what I loved last week.

1. These monograph cards that I found in paperchase. I really love how they all look together. I wanted to buy them all but am trying to make all my own cards at the moment...they definitely got me inspired though.

2. Making some pom pom's with some old wool I had lying around and the new pom pom maker that my mother in law gave me which makes it sooooooo easy to do!

3. Using one of the pom poms to tie up this gift for a special friend who turns 30 this year. (Its not her birthday for a few months but I like to plan ahead!) I really like wrapping with brown paper and then adding embellishments. I think all my gifts will be coming with pom poms attached this year!

4. This tree near our house that makes me feel like I might be on the west coast of America (well not really - but it is tropical right so it makes me happy!)

5. These Daf's that NM sent me at work on St Davids day the first year we were dating. After they died I left them in the garden and forgot about them and then every year since they suprise me and spring to life. I love daffodils they are really beautiful happy flowers.

5. This sky that stayed blue all weekend. It is amazing how much happiness a bit of sunshine creates. It felt good to feel some warmth on my skin!

6. Ok its a bit flower overload this week but when I was in the garden I noticed this little bush that my Dad planted 3 years ago was flowering. Little bits of beauty and nature in our concrete environment. I really am determined to give our garden some love and attention this year. I have never had 'green fingers' (in fact they have been called black in the past) but I am going to turn that around hopefully.

In other news I have been listening to this song all weekend after watching this. Happy Monday.

Devon
vscocam323

This weekend we went to Devon. There were 18 of us in total, 3 families with other halves. We have been going away together every year for about 7 years now and it is always AWESOME. I love it even more now that NM is coming along with me. The weather was perfect, the house we stayed in was incredible...and the place had a ping pong table. What more do you need. We spent hours playing ping pong round robin which was pretty much the most fun and hilarious thing ever.

Other highlights were a loooonnnng walk on the beach, wrestling people to the ground, watching a bunch of hand gliders land, having a bounce on the trampoline and drooling over all the amazing food at the Totnes farmers market.
